Globe Univesity Welcomes Cheryl Maplethorpe

Globe University - Woodbury Welcomes New Executive Corporate Financial Aid Director

Globe Education Network (GEN) will welcome Cheryl Maplethorpe to their organization on Thursday, May 12 as the new Executive Corporate Financial Aid Director.

Cheryl previously worked at the Minnesota Office of Higher Education where she was the Director of the Division of Student Financial Aid Services since November 1991. 

In addition to her responsibilities as a Director for MOHE, Cheryl was also a key player in establishing the University of Minnesota campus in Rochester. Cheryl has authored various publications for both professionals and consumers concerning financial aid, saving for college, and need analysis, and she has given numerous presentations on a wide variety of financial aid topics.

She also helped design and produce videos, computer programs and web pages explaining how to apply for financial aid.  Cheryl has worked with the Minnesota legislature and other state agencies to design and implement state financial aid programs for post-secondary students in Minnesota. 

She has testified at Minnesota House and Senate hearings in support of adequate funding for state financial aid programs and has served as a speaker and panelist at state, regional, and national conferences concerning financial aid matters.  Cheryl serves as the Vice Chair on the Board of ISEEK in St. Paul, MN; she serves on the Board of the River Falls Area Hospital in River Falls, WI; she serves on the Board of the Kinnickinnic Health and Education Foundation in River Falls, WI; and she serves on the Federal Education Department Common Origin and Disbursement Advisory Committee in Washington, D.C.

While working fulltime for the State of Minnesota, Cheryl completed her Ph.D. in Higher Education Policy and Administration from the University of Minnesota in January 2007.  She earned her Master’s in Education/Counseling and Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from the University of Iowa.
