Bites Nearby: Best Budget Breakfast At Oakdale Deli

Not only is PT's Pastrami and More serving up amazing East Coast-style deli sandwiches, they're serving up tasty budget breakfasts, too.

Tom and Molly Eytcheson opened up their East Coast-style deli, PT’s Pastrami and More, about three years in Oakdale.

Serving up hot signature sandwiches such as the New York-style pastrami, Philly cheese steak (made with sliced ribeye steak) and deli sandwiches like their Mile High Club, it’s hard to believe they even have time for breakfast!

Not only are these breakfasts inexpensive, they’re also touched with Tom’s own take on how to make a great breakfast taste better. Tom has taken the ordinary breakfast sandwich ($3.99) up a notch by adding his own bacon to it. This sandwich starts with your choice of English muffin or bagel. It’s topped with a fresh fried egg, melted cheddar cheese and  then topped with ham, spicy sausage or their bacon. Of course, topping it with PT’s bacon is highly recommended.

“Our bacon is salt-cured so most of the moisture is gone and we trim most of the fat off, meaning there’s hardly any grease left on it,” Tom said.

This bacon is flavorful, super crispy and it adds another flavor profile to just about anything off their menu. Better yet, just start your morning off smiling and order a side of it ($1.95).

If you’re a corned beef and hash eater, you must try PT’s pastrami and hash ($6.95). This big and meaty dish consists of fresh hash browns, sauteed onions, their own navel cut pastrami and then it’s all fried up into crispy goodness. This breakfast is big enough to split or take it home for leftovers.

“The difference between corned beef and pastrami is corned beef is a grind and pastrami is typically smoked and cured. Our pastrami is a navel cut and then it’s steamed six hours, making it an East Coast style pastrami in our hash brown dish,” Tom said.

Tommy’s biscuits and gravy ($4.95) originates from Molly’s grandmother Helen’s recipe. These homemade buttermilk biscuits are kicked up with an infusion of sauteed red peppers and onions, and then generously topped with a heaping ladle of hot Italian style sausage gravy. PT’s house coffee is Starbucks; add a cup for $1.50.

PT’s Pastrami and More caters, too, so keep them in mind for your next business or private party event. You can follow PT’s on Twitter and Facebook for daily specials.
