Bites Nearby: Get 'Sauced' At This Outdoor 'Hot' Spot

With over 14 signature wing sauces to choose from, outdoor music and flat-screen TVs, the outdoor patio at the Oakdale Buffalo Wild Wings Grill and Bar is an alfresco dining hot spot for the young and old.

One of the fastest-growing restaurant chains in the country, is not only a wing-lovers destination, but it’s also a sports bar and social hot spot for people meeting up.

Serving up a vast menu of wings, appetizers, salads, specialty burgers and signature menu items, the restaurant also offers fun, electronic interactive sports games—making it a very family-friendly destination.

With a large alfresco dining area complete with pond view, music and several flat-screen TVs, this patio is the place to chill while munching on their signature wings. Your only dilemma might be what wing sauce (sweet to “blazing” hot) or appetizers to choose from, but no need to worry. Patch has done some taste testing for you.

Since it’s only available for a limited time, make sure to order up some wings basted in the smoky and sticky-sweet, Captain Morgan’s signature sauce. It’s similar to a teriyaki glaze, only with a zest of “adult” sophistication to it.

After spending a day out in the heat, the salt and vinegar wings are a perfect choice. The salt and tang of this rub makes these wings juicy, tender and succulent, particularly when paired with the citrus lime blast of a BWW’s black cherry mojito ($5).

“My personal favorite is the spicy garlic wings,” said manager Jon Smale. “It’s middle of the road heat wise and really garlicky.”

Another popular pick is the buffalo dry rub. At first bite, it tastes like a mouthful of buttery popcorn, but don’t be fooled, the spice comes flaming back.

With a hint of a smoldering chipotle spice, the smoky southwestern is another limited time offer sauce, and is perfect for those who like a spicy fire to their wings. You’ll  definitely want to kill the heat with an icy cold beer.

If you’re looking for something other than wings, try the new chili cheese dogs ($8.19), soft pretzels with sauce ($4.99) or deep-fried Kosher pickles ($4.99).

A trio of three dogs in buns, covered with chili and shredded cheese, the chili cheese dogs are served with a side of fries, making it an easy appetizer to split and share.

Served up fresh and warm, the threesome of soft-style, artisan pretzels comes with your choice of two dipping sauces. Try the honey mustard and/or nacho cheese sauce.

Wing lovers take note: For a limited time, BWW’s is offering unlimited wings Monday-Friday, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Traditional wings cost $9.99; boneless are $10.99. Price includes sides of celery, dressings with an initial order of 12 wings.

Other deal days are Tuesdays, when BWW’s runs a 45-cent wing special and Thursdays, a 60-cemt boneless wing day.

Happy hour runs Monday through Friday, from 2-7 p.m., and again 10 p.m. to midnight. You’ll get drink specials, select appetizers and tall domestics, all for $3.
