Brunch Options Expand in Woodbury

Sole Mio to begin offering brunch this Sunday, Lakes Tavern started it up last weekend.

Before he opened Sole Mio Ristorante, Woodbury resident Angelo Montes won several awards for brunch as a chef at other restaurants.

“The place I was before was filled every Sunday,” he said.

Now, Montes is bringing brunch to Woodbury. Sole Mio will begin offering brunch ($15 adults, $7 kids 5-12, free for children 4 and younger) on Sundays starting Jan. 20.

Meanwhile, Lakes Tavern & Grill started its own Sunday brunch on Jan. 13.

The buffet brunch at Sole Mio, which opened at the Valley Creek Mall in October 2012, will feature an “American station” and an “Italian station,” Montes said.

While the Italian portion will feature pasta, cannoli and the like, Montes said, “We’re in America. That means we need to do what people expect—sausage, bacon, eggs, caramel rolls, potatoes.”

Overall, Montes said things are “going great” at the new restaurant, which got a boost from a Pioneer Press review and a spot on KARE 11.

He was excited about bringing brunch to Sole Mio.

“It will be great for the community,” Montes said.

Reservations are welcome, especially for groups. For more information, visit the Sole Mio website.

Lakes Tavern & Grill

Lakes Tavern & Grill began serving its brunch buffet last Sunday.

“People in Woodbury are looking for that,” said manager Leah Fideldy. “And we’ve got a lot to offer.”

The restaurant, near Woodbury Lakes, may look at offering brunch on Saturdays, but those mornings are often utilized for pancake breakfasts for school groups or local nonprofits, Fideldy said.
