Business Roundup: New McDonald's, BBQ Pit, Savers And More

From slow-smoked barbecue to fast food to hip clothing for "hot mamas," the next few months will bring a variety of new shopping and dining opportunities to Woodbury.

Here’s a rundown of some of the new shops, stores and restaurants coming to Woodbury.

McDonald's

The McRumors are true: A second McDonald’s location is opening later this summer near the new off Woodbury Drive. 

The restaurant is in the planning stages and is undergoing review and approval, according to Janelle Schmitz, the city’s Planning and Economic Development manager.

Meanwhile, the at 1759 Weir Drive is currently and plans to hold a grand opening celebration this fall with a new, state-of-the-art restaurant.

BBQ

Dickey's Barbecue Pit, known as the largest “quick-serve” barbecue chain in the country, is expected to celebrate a grand opening in Woodbury within the next few months.

The Texas-based restaurant chain has been growing across the nation and in Minnesota—there are currently seven locations in the Twin Cities, and a total of 15 are expected.

This will be the first Dickey's Barbecue Pit to open in Woodbury. Its exact location has not yet been finalized, according to Amy Vercher, a spokeswoman for Dickey’s Barbecue Pit. Owners Dale Mueller and Cory Sessions expect to hire 10-12 new employees, she said.

Savers

Thrift store Savers is scheduled to open Sept. 8 at the former Ultimate Electronics space at 8401 Tamarack Road, the sixth Savers location in the Twin Cities.

The store partners with 120 nonprofit organizations to collect donations of reusable household items and clothing and pays them for these items to support charitable organizations' programs and services. The majority of items that don’t sell are sent to developing countries.

Hot Mama

A new Hot Mama store, the eighth Twin Cities location, will open at later this month.

It’s billed as a unique upscale boutique that will be a fashion resource for moms, according to Woodbury Lakes’ website. Visit Hot Mama’s website at www.shopmama.com.

butters&beans

Also at , butters&beans is now open.

In addition to the locally made butters&beans line of eco-friendly infant clothing, the new children’s boutique also offers clothing and accessories from other local designers, including Pop Frocks Apparel and TootyFruityMonkeyLuv Hair Accessories.

buybuy Baby

Another baby store, another lowercase title: buybuy Baby is opening this fall at Woodbury Lakes.

It’s the first buybuy Baby location in Minnesota, occupying about 28,000 square feet in the former Linens-N-Things site.

Customers will find infant and toddler merchandise from leading brands, including furniture, car seats, strollers, feeding supplies, bedding, bath, health and safety essentials, toys, learning and development products and clothing.
