Single? Ready for Winter? Ready for sparks?

8minuteDating provides a hip and fun way for Twin Cities’
singles to meet.

8minuteDating, the hottest new way to meet people to date--without any pressure.  The first event, for 35-56 year olds, will occur on November 6 at the Sail Away Cafe located in Afton, Minnesota.

Tom Jaffee, founder of 8minuteDating said, “we hold our
events in popular restaurants and clubs, so it’s not only a stress free way to meet new people, but it’s also a fun night out.  We always provide appetizers, and at some events we have entertainment, such as live jazz, wine tasting, prizes or professional comedians.  But bottom line, people are really energized by meeting each other in an environment where it’s easy to actually talk and get to know someone.”

The tag line for 8minuteDating is ‘8 First Dates – 1 Fun Night!’   Here’s how it works: Men and women are paired off for 8 one-on-one conversations.  After 8 minutes, the host rings a bell, and the participants discreetly note on their dating card whether or not they’re interested in another date with that person.

In the middle of the evening, there’s a 20-minute intermission.  Guests can talk further with some of the people they have already met or they can approach that certain someone they may have had their eye on but haven’t gotten the opportunity to meet yet.  This is also a good time to write down the names of people they’re interested in meeting.  “We’ve seen that even shy people are having an easy time meeting lots of new people at our events,” Jaffee said.

After the intermission, each participant has four more
8-minute dates.  After the eighth date, the organized part is over but the evening is not.  At this point everyone can mingle, make new friends and also enjoy a cash bar and complimentary appetizers.  After the event, the participants enter the names of the people they’re interested in dating on the 8minuteDating.com website.

When any two people are interested in meeting each other again, the website automatically sends e-mails to both parties with their contact information.

So far, 8minuteDating events have been selling out at every venue with attendance ranging from 30 to 100 people, depending on the size of the room.  Events have been held at restaurants throughout the Twin Cities but this is the first at the extraordinary restaurant, Sail Away Café in Afton.
