Grand Opening for Woodbury’s Yackel Dance Studio

The event will feature dance demonstrations, prizes and snacks. Yackel moved from Cottage Grove to the Valley Creek Mall.

Yackel Dance Studio will host a grand-opening celebration from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 7.

The dance studio moved from Cottage Grove to Woodbury, and now occupies the previously vacant space behind Warners' Stellian at the Valley Creek Mall.

Yackel Dance Studio was founded in 1967, and had been in Cottage Grove for about 30 years, owner Denise Yackel told Patch when the news was announced.

The move allowed the studio—which draws students from Woodbury, Stillwater, Oakdale and Hudson, Wis.—to expand, Yackel said. The new space spans 4,829 square feet.

“We’re very excited,” she said.

Saturday’s event will feature dance demonstrations at the mall, prizes, and cake, cookies and other treats, according to a post on its Facebook page.

The dance studio offers a wide variety of programs for toddlers through high school-aged students. Yackel Dance Studio has received numerous regional and national awards; the studio focuses on tap, jazz, ballet, lyrical and hip-hop dance.
