Moms Take Note: Salon Bambino Open in Woodbury

The family-friendly salon is located near the intersection of Valley Creek Road and Woodbury Drive.

Woodbury moms looking for a place to get a pedicure while their kid gets a haircut (or vice versa), look no further.

Salon Bambino opened around the first of the year at 9900 Valley Creek Road, suite 160, near Carmine’s restaurant.

Owner Sara Gruett described Salon Bambino as a family-friendly place where parents can also feel comfortable. The space is divided into two areas—one for the younger set and the other more geared toward adults.

In addition to haircuts, the salon offers manicures and pedicures, and features a “gel polish” service. “It’s the latest and greatest in the nail world,” she said.

“I just wanted a place where you can get all that and your 6-year-old can still sit and watch cartoons,” Gruett said. “Woodbury moms have their kids in tow everywhere they go.”

Gruett, who has lived in Woodbury for the past six years, said adults (men and women) can get their hair cut at Salon Bambino.

The salon also hosts parties in which youngsters can get their nails done while parents relax and have coffee.

“It’s not just another place that has TVs and suckers,” said Gruett, who has worked in salons since she was 15 years old and graduated from the Aveda Institute.

Salon Bambino is offering $5 off children’s haircuts through the end of February. Appointments are recommended, but walk-ins are accepted based on availability.

Gruett said she understands the needs of mothers in Woodbury.

“I’m a Woodbury mom,” she said. “Two of my daughters play hockey.”

Ultimately, Gruett said she wants to have a “cozy” salon where customers feel like they’re at someone’s home.

“I want to be a fixture in Woodbury,” she said.

I'm not certain I would want to get a mani/pedi while my 3 year old is running around. Not very relaxing and that's why I go get a man/pedi to relax and get away! Also, I drive by the corner daily and to be honest, I forgot there was a strip mall there. It's down in a pit. There really is nothing there that I would go to. It would be better suited for office space. Carmine's is the only semi-noticeable establishment there and really who goes there?

My 5 yo daughter just had a hair trim there this morning and we are going back together to get mani's done! Love that it caters to moms and daughters at the same time!

A kid's salon without the requisite toy store attached (no more fighting our way out like ninja's after a haircut because the kids want this toy or that) and a place that busy moms or older kids can get a cut without feeling out of place? What a great idea! I wonder why the previous poster has her nose so out of joint? Competition perhaps? HAHAHAHA

Another hair salon? How many do we need? Although, I do aggree with the toy comment. Tough to get out of Kids Hair without buying $3.00 worth of junk. FYI, when I noticed this salon had opened I mentioned it at Kids Hair when I was in with my son.....the manager got very sheepish. They must be worried.

The article says for moms who take their kids everywhere. It's an option big nose! If you want your mani/pedi alone time, fine. Everyone likes choices... Great idea :)
Big Nose January 31, 2013 at 07:53 PM
Hey Ask Larry you're right it's about choices. My choice is to go to a place to relax because I don't take my kids everywhere as that is completely asanine. Calm down go get a pedi with your kids if you want at this establishment and then go to Carmines...said no one ever.
Ask Larry January 31, 2013 at 08:26 PM
Like you I prefer to have my pedi's without my kids... I'm calm, happy and after all this talk about pedi's... I just might do that today. My comment was clearly meant to say, choices are good. Maybe not for you, but a good option for many I'm sure. Peace big nose.

Sheesh, your life is so boring that you create a login to slam somebody you don't know and won't patronize? I agree that you should spend as much alone time as you can away from your kids. I'm sure that they appreciate it and the rest of us will benefit from it. Go back under your rock troll.

Big nose it sounds like you need a nap or a massage. Carmine's is a great place and not the pit you make it out to be. How can you get so upset about a new business.
Dave February 01, 2013 at 01:50 AM
Big nose you might want to take a nap or get a massage, I see your a very positive person. We love to welcome new business.

This is hilarious! My 2 cents is this concept may not work. A decently priced salon for man/pedi's hair- great concept. Kids milling around I don't know...Woodbury already has hair salon's for kids. Keeping it simple would have been key. I agree with relaxing for my pedi without my kids or anyone elses around but if you want that, go for it.Wonder if one of these commentators is the owner of this new place or the owner of this Carmine's. YooTooFunny and Dave seem too fired up! Sounds like it might be personal! I'm going to stop in there Saturday, I'll let you know if my perception is true!

I find the salon relaxing and elegant. I have been in there when there were children present and it was not distracting or unpleasant. I think it is important to remember we are a community in Woodbury, where we should celebrate the successes of our friends and neighbors. Sara, the owner of Salon Bambino, is a kind and compassionate person, with a wonderful sense of family. I'm glad she has opened this salon as she has a great talent with hair, makeup and nails. It's great to have options in Woodbury!! If you want to know what Salon Bambino is like, go in, enjoy a cup of coffee and get to know Sara as a new friend and neighbor in our community.

Got a line on another Salon opening in Woodbury in the next few months. Hopefully I'll have it up soon.

Fantastic service and great atmosphere; one more customer for Salon Bambino, one less for the "other guys!"
