New Women’s Clothing Store, Sisu, to Open in Woodbury

Sisu, a new women’s clothing store, is set to open in Woodbury in mid- to late November.

It’s occupying space next door to Angelina’s Kitchen at 2170 Eagle Creek Lane in the Eagle Valley Marketplace.

The clothing store will offer “fashion for every day,” said owner Heidi Martin.

“Things you can dress up or dress down,” she told Patch on Wednesday.

Sisu is an independent store that will have a “boutique feel,” said Martin, who used to live in Woodbury and previously worked as a retail manager in town.

It will carry fewer items so women can buy something unique, she said.

“Sometimes, this can be a really small town,” Martin said.

Growing up, her parents owned a clothing store, and Martin said she wants customer service to be a hallmark of Sisu, where employees will know customers and their individual style.

Shoes and some jewelry will also be available at Sisu, which will offer clothing in a wide price range, Martin said.

The space is still under construction.

Sisu (pronounced “see-sue”) is a Finnish word that doesn’t have a direct translation in English, Martin said. It basically means: “to have guts,” she said.

“Which you sometimes need when you’re shopping, and you sometimes need in life,” Martin said.
