Osaka Now Open at Woodbury Lakes

The Japanese restaurant features a sushi bar and a dozen hibachi tables.

Osaka Sushi and Hibachi is now open at Woodbury Lakes.

Located near the Tamarack Road entrance to Woodbury Lakes, the restaurant opened Tuesday, May 7. It’s at 9000 Hudson Road, suite 622.

Behind the main restaurant area of Osaka, formerly Kenichi Japanese and Sushi, are 12 hibachi tables in a large open room. People don’t need reservations to see the show from the teppanyaki chefs, but they are recommended, Lin said.

There is also a sushi bar, and Osaka has a full liquor selection. The menu is listed on its website.

The patio space will likely be utilized within a few weeks, Lin said.

The Woodbury location is the eighth in Minnesota for Osaka.

About 15 employees were hired, and more may be added in the coming months, depending on need, Lin said.

While construction issues delayed the opening, people have been stopping by and calling to make reservations, said Helen Lin, manager.

“They seem really excited,” she said.

One note on hours: there is a two-hour lunch break during weekdays.

Hours are:

  • Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 4:30-10 p.m.
  • Friday, 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 4:30-11 p.m.
  • Saturday, noon to 11 p.m.
  • Sunday, noon to 10 p.m.

Do they serve kid friendly food because frankly that's what Woodbury Lakes needs......really.....

I've heard that from time to time Mary. What would make sense? (And has anyone hit Osaka yet?)

My wife was working late on Tuesday, so I took my seven-month old daughter to Osaka on its opening night... and she loved it! The staff were very friendly, and the food was quite good. I had spicy tuna rolls, and then split avocado maki rolls and a side order of hibachi chicken with my daughter. She really loves chicken, and while the avocado was a mess, she seemed to enjoy that too. Also had some egg custard sashimi for dessert. (She doesn't swallow food at this point, just puts it in her mouth and sucks on it.) I thought the food was quite good, the prices were reasonable, service was excellent, and the atmosphere was very pleasant. I'll definitely be back and wouldn't hesitate to bring my daughter again. So yes, I found it kid-friendly!
