Report: Costco Picks Woodbury Site

The retailer has been eyeing a location in Woodbury for some time.

Costco is set to purchase a site near Tamarack Road in Interstate 494, according to a post Wednesday from the Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal.

Citing sources, the newspaper says Costco plans to buy the 60-acre site and build a store on half of it.

There has been plenty of interest in Woodbury regarding a Costco, which was part of 2011 plans for the State Farm campus that fell through. The State Farm building is now under contract with a new owner.

Woodbury Community Development Director Dwight Picha said nothing has been submitted to the city and he has had no recent discussions with Costco officials.

The Woodbury City Council last Wednesday examined a traffic study for the area, and city officials told Patch there was no pending development there that could be discussed at the time.
