Wax On, Wax Off: Waxing the City Opens in Woodbury

The Woodbury Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday held a ribbon cutting for the new business.

The two most popular services at Waxing the City?

“Brows and Brazilians,” manager Lisa O’Brien said during a daylong event Tuesday at the new business.

It’s the first Waxing the City location to open in Minnesota; the company has salons in Colorado and Texas.

Waxing the City has been well received in the community since it opened Dec. 17, O’Brien said, and other businesses at CityWalk “have taken us under their wing.”

The Woodbury Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday, Jan. 8, and grand-opening events continue Jan. 10-12.

Mayor Mary Giuliani Stephens welcomed Waxing the City to Woodbury, telling the assembled group: “I love their tagline: Get your smooth on.”

A one-way sign is also part of its logo.

“We do one thing and we do it really well,” O’Brien said. “We strive for excellent customer service.”

Located at 10035 City Walk Drive, Waxing the City offers waxing for men and women. Check out its website for a complete list of services.

Waxing the City has a no-tipping policy.

“We feel everyone should get fabulous service,” O’Brien said.

People can make appointments over the phone or online, and walk-ins are welcome, O’Brien said. It also features 50 percent off for one service for first-time customers.

Plenty of people on Tuesday asked O’Brien the same question: How much does it hurt?

“Everyone has a different pain threshold,” she said.

Waxing the City is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
