What Should Go Here? Radio Shack Closes

Introducing a new feature on Patch: What Should Go Here? We want to hear from you!

The Woodbury has closed.

So, what do you think would make sense at this location?

Another electronics store? Maybe a shop for children’s goods? Something else? What is Woodbury missing?

Tell is in the comments section below this story.

The store closed in March, according to a company official, and no other stores in the area are being shuttered. It had been there since 1992.

I would love to see a store that sells affordable sensory, occupational therapy and speech therapy items for children with special needs? There is a great one in Minnetonka (the Autism Shop), but I'd rather shop shop close to home!
Kim Lemrick May 16, 2012 at 02:01 PM
I should add, I'd like to see one that is inclusive of meeting the needs of multiple special needs, including autism but also many others.

Not a bad idea Kim, especially with the Miracle League Field set to open in a few weeks.

Recent additions seem to lean toward new discount/thrift shops a la Big Lots, Savers, Platos Closet, Dollar Store, Goodwill, and the forthcoming Aldi so maybe someting along those lines will go in. Or with the new Rose Of No mans Land tattoo and piercing shop and The Hideaway in Oakdale maybe another lifestyle shop? One thing for sure, it will not be an auto parts store.

Thanks Rick! This is in the opposite direction, but what about a fresh seafood store? (Have to admit I rarely shop at Rainbow so I don't know what the selection is like there.)

Funny, but sadly true. Wont be long before we get a pawn shop (but hey, we need more retail. Just ask Dwight.).

I'd be nice to have a place like Bread and Chocolate in Saint Paul. I also heard that SuperCuts in Tamerack Village will be closing it's doors at the end of the month.
Kris Janisch May 16, 2012 at 06:09 PM
A Bread and Chocolate-type spot would be great Fernando. Hadn't heard about SuperCuts, thanks for posting the info.

And Paul, I love that show Pawn Stars.

Just remember, as in many things; certainly more retail is a good thing but we should all remember that QUALITY is more important than quantity. So whatever opens can be good as long as they are in it for the long haul to improve the community and raide the bar for customer service

oops...Raise! :-)

If I had a preference, I'd replace the Radio Shack with... another Radio Shack. Where will I get my gadget connectors?? Target's selection is insufficient. I'll have to check out Best Buy's. This particular space doesn't have the necessary kitchen facility hookups for something like Bread and Chocolate, but I'd definitely dig a place like that somewhere in town. My biggest wishes are to get a Biaggi's and a Costco in Woodbury. A man can dream!
Kris Janisch May 16, 2012 at 10:54 PM
Thanks Marc! What's Biaggi's?

I haven't heard about the ALDI.. Where is it supposed to be built? Thanks for any INFO on this. I LOVE ALDI. I can buy my German candy there for the holidays! :O)

It's an Italian restaurant chain, better than Olive Garden and much better than the other local choice - Carmine's. There are Biaggi's in Maple Grove and Eden Prairie. I ate at one in Davenport, IA - excellent.
Kris Janisch May 17, 2012 at 07:50 PM
Ah, thanks Pat. Meant to google that but forgot. You have any suggestions for that space?
Christine May 22, 2012 at 06:50 PM
Though probably too small of a space for it, but a Pottery Barn would be nice.

I would love to see a tailor/seamstress/shoe repair type place
