The Woodbury bar is changing its concept under a new management group.

One of Woodbury’s more popular bars will soon have a new name and a totally different concept.

is becoming Woody’s Roadhouse.

Woody’s will offer steak, burgers, ribs, skewers and rotisserie meats, and transition from a bar decor to a restaurant atmosphere, Harvey said. A chef is being brought in from an Uptown restaurant, he said.

“In this day and age, entertainment venues just don’t survive,” Harvey said. “We’re no longer going to be an entertainment venue that serves food, we’re going to be a restaurant with entertainment in the evenings.”

A new management group has taken over the space, Harvey said, and plans to capture the market looking for high-quality food at a good value.

“I think, with Woody’s, we’re offering that,” he said. “We’re going directly at our competition.”

Woody’s will be an independent establishment, Harvey said. Owners have spent the past three and a half months working out the details, including the name. They considered several options before settling on Woody’s.

“Woody’s for Woodbury,” Harvey said. “That one stuck with us.”
