Senior Living Facility Plans to Build Near Bielenberg Gardens

Saint Therese plans to build a campus adjacent to Bielenberg Gardens.

About a month and a half after plans for a new grocery store were announced for a new Woodbury development, a senior-housing group says it will break ground on a facility adjacent to the urban village this fall.

Saint Therese plans to build a new campus near the urban village, called Bielenberg Gardens, located at the southwest corner of Radio Drive and Bailey Road in Woodbury, according to a Tuesday news release.

“Saint Therese is delighted to be expanding in the east metro,” President & CEO Barbara Rode said in a statement. “Woodbury is a progressive city supported by innovative leaders seeking the best options for their aging population. We look forward to serving all Woodbury and east metro area seniors and their families as they journey through the aging process.”

Saint Therese plans to break ground this fall on the new campus, which is expected to feature 275 units. It is set to open in late 2014 or early 2015, according to the release.

In early February, plans for a new Jerry’s Enterprises grocery store were announced, further giving shape to the city’s plans for the mixed-use development. The exact type of grocery story it will be hasn’t been announced.

Saint Therese is a Catholic-based senior care organization that has been in existence for more than 45 years. It will be built adjacent to the new Bielenberg Gardens shopping center, which is scheduled to begin construction in June 2013, the release says.

The facility will feature one- and two-bedroom independent living apartments and assisted-living and memory-care apartments.

“Private nursing care suites for long-term, memory and transitional care including cardiac care will also be available where residents will live in small neighborhoods,” reads part of the release. “The living options will be connected by a town center with conveniences such as a chapel, movie theater, café, beauty/barber shop and state-of-the-art wellness and rehab center.”
