Business As A Social Change Agent? Habitat for Humanity Event

Habitat for Humanity event this week! Is business being looked at more to make social change then government and churches?

We are very excited to be a part of the event this week.

I believe that most customers/consumers (which would include all of us) are looking more towards the business sector to make the social changes that are needed then we did in the past.

Most of our society has become increasingly disenfranchised with the traditional organizations that used to make these changes happen... the churches and the government.

It doesn't matter what your opinion is of churches and the government, as a society we are losing faith that these organizations have been and will continue to make change in the most effective way.

Through our customers interaction, we have the power to make these changes. We, ourselves as customers have the power to choose companies that care as much about social change and giving back to the communities as they do about profit.

What if we gave 5 percent of our top line revenues to charitable social change causes? What if we let our customers choose which cause we donated to?

When businesses make social change and take customers revenues and bring them right to the people who need help through charitable causes we can skip a lot of middle entities that have wasteful financial habits and endless pits of bureaucracy that bog down change happening.

Does anybody else share my perspective? Am I off base? Thoughts?
