Facebook Redesign - July 2013 - Goodbye Clutter

Did you go to your computer and notice the changes on Facebook yet? If you haven't noticed the change, you are next in line to get it. For those of you that haven’t seen the new changes yet, they are updating the news feed.

Say goodbye to the clutter and hello to more of a neat-clean look. Facebook designers wanted to improve the news feed after getting complaints that the news feed is too cluttered. People also stated they wanted more control over their stories that they see. So they listened and did a new makeover. In this article we will go over the new improvements that have been made.

1.  Bigger Is Better Vision

What got bigger? Photos are now huge, articles are now more enhanced, and where your friends check into restaurants. They are no longer tiny thumbnails. Even the ads got bigger!

2.  Feeds Are Added On.

Want more control over what you want to see? On the top right side of the homepage you can change your news feed to what you want to see. These new feeds let you have control. Now you can be the one that decides what you want to see and what you care about. If you have extra time, there are other things you can view. For example, click on Photos. This feed will show you photos that your friends have shared. Another feed is the Following feed.  If you are following entrepreneurs, famous people, or celebrities this feed will show all the pages that you are following.

3.  Unifying The Facebook Experience

Do you sometimes view Facebook on different devices (mobile, computer, tablet, game console, or television)? They are trying to unify the Facebook experience across all different devices. They took the things people like on the mobile and brought them to the website. This means that it is the same clean look and navigation on all devises.

4.  Uncluttering the Homepage Navigation

Ever felt like there were too many choices on the left side of your homepage? Now there are big icons to uncluttered the page. The big icons are for the categories (newsfeed, messages, find friends, events, nearby, browse, gifts, songs pop, etc.) and you don't see the subcategories until you click on the icon.
