Giving the Gift of Play

Yearend Giving and Giving the Gift of Play

As we near the ultimate season of giving, the Madison Claire Foundation is asking for your help to give the gift of play this holiday and help us bring an OmniSpin Spinner to Madison's Place Playground.

The OmniSpin Spinner offers kids of all abilities valuable vestibular sensory stimulation — helping kids to develop a sense of balance and improve coordination. The Spinner has high back seats and offers transfer points from a wheel chair or a walker and offers a fun and comfy space for interactive and cooperative play.

It will be an awesome addition to Madison’s Place!

I was asked recently, aside from the obvious of honoring Madison's memory, of why we chose this project.  The answer is for Madison's siblings — and for all those who have a sibling with a disability.

My children were very young during our journey with Madison, finding things to do that we could include Madison was nearly impossible. My children continue to  struggle tremendously with guilt, still 8 years later, with not having spent more time with Madison — playing with her.

Had we had a place like Madison's Place — a place to play and socialize with their sister, my kids would have had a lifetime of good memories to hold on to, instead of those memories of having to leave her behind.

So, as you plan for your holiday and year end giving, I ask that you include Madison’s Place in your 2012 gifts. Your gift, the gift of play, will truly benefit generations of families and children. Not only is this a gift for children with disabilities, but also truly a gift for their siblings to have the opportunity to play together — a gift of lifetime memories.

Click here to donate now and help us raise the $6,000 needed to bring the OmniSpin Spinner to Madison's Place.
