It Takes a Village

Madison's Place will be the East Metro's first fully inclusive playground and will be located on the perimeter of the Bielenberg Sports Center.

It takes a village is a common saying that is applied to many projects.

On Saturday night at the Madison Claire Foundation's annual gala, Jason Helling, Director, Rehabilitation Services at University of MN Amplatz Children's Hospital, spoke about how right now it truly takes a village to commit to making Madison's Place a reality.

Inclusive playgrounds are a major step in the right direction of encouraging play and experiencing the outdoors for kids with disabilities and their able bodied siblings and friends. We know many children will never experience the joy and sense of freedom of climbing up onto a playground.

Our commitment to Madison's Place is not just a commitment to a single playground, but a commitment to setting the standard for how people think about and plan for inclusive play.

Please take a moment to watch the video on why Madison's Place is so important not only for our community, but for all communities.

As we narrow in on our remaining $300,000 to begin installation next spring, we ask for your help in making a financial commitment to generations of families and children who will now have the chance to experience what many of us take for granted — a day at the park.
