Veterans Employment Connection Pilot Program Launched
Matching up Veteran Job Seekers with local Business Mentors to coach, assess readiness for job interviews, and connect them with opportunities in their transition to civilian employment.
On Oct. 12, 2011, at the Woodbury Sheraton, the Woodbury Community Foundation (WCF) sponsored the first Networking Breakfast, to match up Veteran Job Seekers with local Business Mentors to coach, assess readiness for job interviews, and connect them with opportunities in their transition to civilian employment.
The modest goal of the pilot program was to match 10 Vets with 10 Mentors.
On Wednesday, 7 Vets were actually matched with 4 Mentors, with an ongoing commitment and action plan for at least 6 months. A dozen more Vets and 6 more Mentors have been recruited, with 6 to be matched up before the next Networking Breakfast on Nov. 16.
