Here is Sabine Pradhan's Version Of The Story:

Mrs. Ona Pradhan was getting ready to leave for Woodbury Dental Arts to get a cavity filled in her tooth. Her 5-year-old daughter Sabine Pradhan had been going to the dentist every 6 months since she was three. She always had a good check-up, but now her Mom had a cavity. Sabine wanted to go along, and be there for her Mom.

When they arrived, they checked-in and then went to a dental station. A dental hygienist was in her Mom's station and another one was next door with a little boy about her age. The dentist, Dr. Marko Kamel, entered from the dental station next door and was very friendly. There were all these dental tools in a tray and Sabine asked if she could touch them and what they were used for. Dr. Kamel explained that it was very important to keep the tools very clean and they needed special gloves to touch them.

Sabine got to put special yellow gloves on. Suddenly, she was in training to be a real Dentist-- and Dr. Kamel was training her! It was just role-play, but to Sabine, it was her first real job! First, he explained the tools, using big words for what they were all called. She asked Dr. Kamel to rename to most commonly used tool "Fifi". He immediately agreed to!

Dr. Kamel let her look in her Mom's mouth and when he needed a tool she got to hand it to him. She was impressed that Dr. Kamel learned all the new names of the tools. He would say, "hand me Fifi" and she would hand him the tool.

Meanwhile, Sabine could hear the little boy in the next dental station and he was upset. She heard the Mom even left and went out to the waiting room. When it was time for Sabine's Mom to wait for her shot to take effect, Dr. Kamel was going to the next dental station, as it was time for the little boy to have a tooth pulled, which he was very upset about. She asked Dr. Kamel if she could go talk to the boy, and Dr.Kamel said "yes".

Immediately, Sabine figured out what was going on with the little boy. He was going to have his tooth pulled and he was scared. With this patient she didn't need training, her inborn talents, and instinct were her guide. She put her hand on his knee and let him know she was there and she cared. He got a Novocaine shot and she knew that he should pay attention to her and not think about what was happening. She started telling him about how she brushed her teeth in the morning and at night. She explained it was very important, and she never took her pink sippy cup to bed and only drinks water in it. He could only listen, as they were busy working in his mouth. She explained that together they could be very brave and that it wouldn't hurt. Sabine put pressure on his knee to let him know she was still there. The boy became very calm, and even happy Sabine was there, and able to relax to have the extraction completed.

Suddenly it was over and his tooth was out! They both got to pick out a toy. She took him out to the waiting room to his Mom, who was relieved and grateful to Sabine for helping her little boy through his appointment. Then, Sabine returned to her first patient -- her Mom.

Sabine asked Dr. Kamel if they could pull her Mom's tooth also! He explained that her Mom didn't need her tooth pulled, just a cavity filled. Her Mom wasn't afraid and it was over very quick. She was proud of her Mom.

This story represents the true caring and innocent nature of children. When these traits are nurtured in our children, it can develop into examples of care and compassion for other children in need. It is time we stop focusing our news on the bad examples in America. There are many good citizens that need to be rewarded and nurtured.
