Bites Nearby: Chill Out With These Hot Sweet Treats

Hot Stone Favorites are the newest, coolest and most decadent desserts in Cold Stone Creamery's lineup of frozen treats.

in Woodbury has four new unique and fanciful desserts available this summer that will appeal to those who, shall we say, like a more artful and elegant ice cream presentation.

“The Hot Stone Favorites were developed by some franchise owners out in California. They were looking for ice cream desserts that would feature hot and cold items,” said Jim Kolb, Woodbury Cold Stone Creamery owner.

One such Hot Stone Favorite is the Brownie á La Mode ($5.29). This warm chocolate brownie sundae is covered in Cold Stone Creamery’s creamy French vanilla ice cream, thick hot fudge and gooey caramel. It’s a great dessert to share, particularly if you’re out on a date and don’t want to appear that you’re gorging yourself into a chocolate abyss.

“Hot Stone Favorites are plated desserts like you would find in a restaurant, but two of these ice cream creations are so unique you most probably won’t find them on a dessert menu,” said Kolb.

One such dessert is the No Fair Funnel Cake ($5.29). Baked fresh daily, these funnel cakes come out warm and super crispy. They’re covered with Cold Stone’s French vanilla ice cream, sliced strawberries, strawberry puree and decorated with fresh whipping cream. Despite the name, the first bite might remind you of the smells and tastes of the state fair.

If you like churros, try the Churro Caramel Crave ($5.29). Churros are a fried-dough pastries that are often referred to as a Spanish doughnuts. These crunchy churros are baked fresh daily and rolled in cinnamon sugar, and then topped with French vanilla ice cream, cinnamon sugar, thick gooey caramel and fresh whipping cream.

Chocoholics must try the Chocolate Lava Meltdown ($5.29). It starts with a warm, moist chocolate devil’s food cake base that’s filled with hot fudge, and then topped with French vanilla ice cream, more hot fudge, fresh whipping cream and dark chocolate truffle shavings.

“Cold Stone Creamery’s super premium ice cream is made fresh daily. We make it all right here in the store,” Kolb said.
