Bites Nearby: Winning Golf Cuisine at Danny's Bar and Grill

With award-winning Chef Ron Bohnert at the helm, the new Danny's Bar and Grille is serving up award-winning cuisine to golfers and the public.

Located inside the StoneRidge Golf Club, Danny’s Bar and Grill is named in honor of Mike and Jeanne McGrath’s special-needs son.

According to StoneRidge Golf Club’s Nick Sierzant, Danny was a fun and warm soul, and always seemed to exceed everyone’s expectations of him. One might say Danny’s is a reflection of his personality—the atmosphere is fun, the employees are warm and friendly, and the food exceeds everyone’s expectations.

“We want Danny’s Bar and Grill to become a destination restaurant. A place for those who are looking for exceptional cuisine served in a fun, entertaining and picturesque environment,” Sierzant said.

Danny’s has live entertainment on the weekends and the patio offers golf course views, an outdoor fireplace and seating for about 90 guests.

As far as the food, a foursome of signature entrées stand out: the Ahi Tuna Steak ($16.95), Twin French Beef Filets ($21.95), Mongolian Pork Chop ($17.45) and the award-winning, Pecan Walleye ($17.95).

Served rare, the wasabi crusted Ahi Tuna Steak is tender and juicy on the inside with just a hint of crispiness on the outside. It’s served with a touch of soy ginger glaze and a dash of wasabi aioli, giving this dish a sweet, yet zippy, flavor profile.

Two beef medallions creates the base for the Twin French Beef Filets. Prepared with a roasted garlic demi, it’s topped off with melted brie and blue cheese lending a sharp, creamy and buttery taste. Homemade shoestring potato fries finish it off. Pair it with a full-bodied red wine.

Compart Duroc, the “black Angus” of pork, is the chop used in the Mongolian Pork. A marinade of sweet, hoisin soy sauce imparts a bit of an Asian flair to this dish. A side of red cabbage and creamy smashed potatoes accompany the plate.

The Midwest Restaurant Hospitality Gold Medal winning Pecan Walleye, is a winner. It’s made with a dried cherry, maple pecan butter sauce, creating a rich and crispy texture on the outside, and a flaky, buttery-rich taste on the inside.

For those looking to get a quick bite to eat in between golf holes, Danny’s also offers a selection of grab-and-go items. A favorite among the staff is the Chicago Style Kosher Dog ($5.95). Served with chopped jalapenos, tomatoes, onions and cheese, it’s a perfect pairing with an icy cold beer.

StoneRidge Golf Club has an event center and pavilion available for rent to the public. The event center and pavilion combined holds about 500 guests.  For more information call 651-436-GOLF (4653).
