Mile Drive Roadwork in Woodbury to Begin Next Week

It's one of several construction projects set to start soon.

Mile Drive, from Bailey Road south to Dale Road, will be temporarily closed for construction starting Wednesday, April 17.

The work is part of the Pioneer Drive extension project.

Construction is expected to be finished by late September, when the new Pioneer Drive extension will be open to vehicles, according to a notice from the city.

The new roadway extension is designed with a wide median that can be narrowed in the future to provide an additional two lanes of traffic for an ultimate four–lane section, if traffic volumes warrant.

Trails and landscaping will also be added along both sides of the new extension of Pioneer Drive.

The road project is part of the city’s development plans for the area, specifically south of the Bailey Road/Mile Drive intersection.

The utility and street improvements are being provided for future and current residential development of property east and west of the existing Mile Drive. One such development currently under construction on the east side of Mile Drive is the Bailey Lake Addition.
