Updated: Snow Hits Woodbury, Wind Bends Power Pole on Woodlane Drive

The snow was expected to continue Thursday and Friday.

Look on the bright side: Saturday is supposed to be partly sunny and nearly 40 degrees.

Wind bent over a power pole on Woodlane Drive early Thursday morning and traffic was slowed across the city as the spring snowstorm continued in Woodbury.

The bent power pole on Woodlane Drive caused traffic to be blocked by emergency vehicles from Lydia Lane north, according to a resident on Woodbury Patch’s Facebook page.

The Woodbury Fire Department was on the scene diverting traffic, and it was expected to be cleared before noon, Woodbury traffic officer Scott Melander said. (Update: Traffic was able to pass by the scene by 11 a.m.; Xcel Energy crews were there.)

As of 9 a.m., there was only one crash, on Regatta Drive, and there were no injuries reported, Melander said. There was one report of a vehicle that went off the road.

The snow was more north and south of Woodbury, he said.

“Knock on wood,” Melander said.

Accumulation Thursday could reach up to four inches, according to the National Weather Service. A rain-snow mix could be on tap for Thursday night, with snow likely again Friday, though it’s only expected to be less than an inch of accumulation.

Lightning also flashed over the skies of Woodbury on Thursday morning.

A winter storm warning was still in effect through Thursday afternoon.
