Woodbury's Memorial Day Event Set For Monday

The annual service will be held May 30 at the Woodbury Lions Veterans Memorial next to City Hall.

Woodbury's annual Memorial Day service will be held on Monday, May 30 at the Woodbury Lions Veterans Memorial, located at City Hall.

The program will begin at 11 a.m. The schedule includes:

  • the Presentation of Colors;
  • an invocation from Pastor Tim Marshall from ;
  • welcoming remarks from Woodbury Mayor Mary Giuliani Stephens;
  • a keynote address from Woodbury Lt. Col. Barbara O’Reilly, former chief of the for Minnesota; and
  • a special reading by Ken Drevnick, father of Minnesota Army National Guard Specialist Daniel Paul Drevnick, who was killed in action while serving in Iraq. 

In addition to O’Reilly, participants will include a color guard from the Junior ROTC, the Civil Air Patrol–St. Croix Composite Squadron, along with members of the Woodbury VFW Post 9024 and Woodbury American Legion Post 501, and the Minnesota Fire Service Memorial Pipe Band.

The Woodbury Memorial Day program has grown over the years to become a significant Twin Cities area event honoring those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country, all veterans and serving military families, according to a release from city officials.
