Woodbury High Grad Needs Your Vote to Become Miss Minnesota Latina

Daphne Jalteco is one of six finalists in the Miss Minnesota Latina Pageant set for Saturday at the Burnsville Performing Arts Center. Online voting is underway.

Daphne Jalteco, a Woodbury High School graduate, will compete at the Burnsville Performing Arts Center Saturday evening for the title of 2013 Miss Minnesota Latina.

Jalteco is one of six finalists between the ages of 19 and 27 who, according to the organization's website, "desire to travel and advance in the world of pageants and the modeling industry, while proudly promoting their Latino heritage." The winner will receive cash, prizes and a chance at the "Miss Latina US" title.

Jalteco, 20, is "smiley and upbeat," according to the competition website:

Daphne Jalteco is a smiley, upbeat 20 year old Mexican from Cottage Grove, Minnesota. Although born in sunny California she moved to Minnesota in 2003. She attended Woodbury High School where she earned a 3.0 and in 2011 she graduated from Inver Hills Community College with an Associate in Business Administration degree. Currently, she works as a teller for Wells Fargo Bank, and one day plans to open and run a business of beauty salons. On her way to achieving this goal, she recently enrolled in the Minnesota School of Cosmetology and became a Mary Kay beauty consultant. Daphne’s gracious personality puts all who meet her at ease, and she seeks to be an encouragement to others. Her favorite TV programs include Keeping Up With The Kardashians, anything on ESPN and watching the NBA. She also enjoys running and specializes in modeling.
