Woodbury Pizza Call Meth Bust: Man Sentenced

The St. Paul man who asked officers if he could order pizza while they searched his motel room—and a bag of drugs tumbled from an advertising leaflet when an officer helped him look for the address—has been sentenced.

Chee Her, 29, was sentenced to nearly a year of jail time running concurrent with an existing sentence and nearly six months of supervised release on the fifth-degree drug charge.

At about 3 p.m. on Dec. 20, 2011, Woodbury police were investigating a possible mail fraud case at the Red Roof Inn. As part of the investigation, officers decided to talk to people in three rooms at the motel.

They saw Her leaving one of the rooms and asked him if they could search it. He obliged, and while police were looking around the room Her asked if he could order a pizza, according to the complaint.

After finding the baggie of meth in the motel advertising, officers later found another baggie containing white powder residue in a trashcan under the sink, according to the complaint. Both later tested positive for meth.

Her told police the drugs were not his but would likely test positive for meth, the complaint says, because he was fairly certain someone had gotten high in the room, though he maintained the last time he used meth was Dec. 14, 2011.
