Community Corner

First Annual Woodbury First Tee Golf Tournament will be held at Eagle Valley

The First Annual First Tee of Woodbury Golf Tournament will be held next Friday, 12:00PM shotgun.  Dinner has been donated and sponsored by Vinnie’s.  Vinnie is the owner and can be found in the restaurant practically anytime the place is serving food.  He was excited to support the program and the community that his business operates in.  As a side note, the food is delicious and I would recommend people give this place a try before the secret is out.  Main supporters include Parnell & Associates and CorTrust Bank.  Paul Parnell, the Principal of Parnell & Associates (the financial advisory firm that I work for) has been backing this program since day one and he and CorTrust are co-sponsoring the tournament. Although new to our community, Cortrust didn’t hesitate to support the program, and community, when Paul discussed The First Tee of Woodbury Program with them.  Another pleasant surprise is that Doug Hart, defensive back for the Green Bay Packers from ’64 to ’71, contacted us and confirmed that he will be playing in the tournament and signing autographs.

In addition, Brian Simpson, Golf Professional and Director of The First Tee of St. Paul will be attending.  Brian is bringing a surprise guest, of the Students of the First Tee Program of St. Paul.  This student is one of the top players in the state and he will be positioned at one of the holes, where tournament participants can make donations starting as low as $5. People who donate with be allowed to substitute his golf shot for their own.

Also present at the tournament, one of The First Tee of Woodbury's biggest supporters, The Woodbury Rotary Club.  The Rotary has been a major contributor to our community with projects such as Miracle Field, the fishing pier at Powers Lake and now helping launch The First Tee in Woodbury.
