Healthy Cooking Demos at the St. Paul Carnival with Sally Sampson

AN APPLE A DAY KEEPS WINTER AT BAY?

HEALTHFUL SNACKING FOR KIDS BEGINS AT ST. PAUL WINTER CARNIVAL
Live cooking demos from ChopChop Magazine and Opal Apples at Carnival’s Family Day, Feb. 1

James Beard-award winning editor, author and food advocate Sally Sampson will host live food demos and apple sampling at St. Paul’s Winter Carnival as she whips up healthy, kid-friendly recipes using this season’s hottest apple variety, Opal apples. Sally is founder and editor of the Beard-awarded non-profit kids’ cooking magazine ChopChop: The Fun Cooking Magazine for Families, a publication designed to inspire and teach kids to cook.

Opal apples, bright yellow apples with a distinctively crunchy texture and sweet, tangy flavor, are apples with a purpose. Opal is the only apple that gives back, donating a portion of each sale to youth- and food-focused nonprofits, including its own Youth Make a Difference Initiative grants. ChopChop Magazine is also one of Opal’s charitable partners in 2014.

ChopChop Magazine and Opal Apples are working together to get kids preparing and eating healthful meals. And because Opal Apples naturally don’t turn brown, Sally will show us why they’re a perfect choice for children’s lunches and easy, fresh apple recipes.

Winter Carnival Family Day events are free and open to the public. For more info about Opal Apples, visit www.opalapples.com; or the event, visit www.winter-carnival.com.
