Community Corner

Home Cookin'

The East Metro Symphony Orchestra (EMSO) will be presenting the second installment in it’s Home Cookin’ series, featuring members as soloists, composers, and in small chamber ensembles.  This informal, family-friendly performance takes place Sunday, March 9th at 3:00pm on the Loft Stage at the East Ridge High School in Woodbury -- 4200 Pioneer Drive, Woodbury, MN 55129.  Tickets, available at the door, are $10 for adults and $6 for students and seniors.  Children 13 and younger are free.

The Home Cookin’ concerts were created to provide members of the orchestra a rare opportunity to step to the front of the orchestra, a unique concept, especially for a community orchestra.  It allows EMSO to highlight all of the many talents and accomplishments of the avocational musicians who comprise our orchestra family.  Our members come from a wide variety of backgrounds, ages, occupations and life styles, and everyone has a unique story to tell about their relationship with music.

This season’s Home Cookin’ concert will feature three original pieces written by orchestra members,  many different soloists playing music ranging from the romantic Saint-Saens, to the unforgettable sounds of the American backwoods, and chamber ensembles representing our string and woodwind sections.  It is delightful to see and hear so many members of the orchestra “strut their stuff” for this unique concert program.
