In China, Nothing is as it seems
An overview of the confusion and complexity that is China today
China is a very confusing place. It has the second largest economy in the world, yet most citizens are still quite poor. Religious freedom as Americans understand it does not exist, yet the church is growing. As Americans we tend to see things as being this OR that— we don’t do well with this AND that. In this talk JoannPittman will unpack eight common myths to help us understand the complexity of modern China.
Joann Pittman has spent the past 28 years in China, serving with English Language Institute China(ELIC). Joann Pittman is currently a Senior Associate with ChinaSource, a Hong Kong-based think-tank. In addition she does cross-cultural training for organizations and businesses engaged in China, and is a guest instructor at Wheaton College (IL) and Taylor University (IN), teaching Chinese Culture and Communication. She is the author of “Survival Chinese Lessons,” published by Dawson Media.
