North west International Rowing Association 110th Annual Championship Regatta

The Minneapolis Rowing Club will host one
of North America’s oldest rowing regattas at Lake Elmo. The Club expects more than 500 participants from
high schools, colleges, and clubs throughout the upper Midwest and western Canada
to race a 2,000-meter course.

The North West International Rowing
Association (NWIRA), a regional association of Canadian and American rowing
clubs founded in 1885, manages the regatta. Teams will be competing for the
coveted Sir Thomas Lipton Cup—a sterling silver trophy over three feet high
donated by Sir Thomas Lipton, founder of the Lipton Tea empire. In addition,
forty-nine other historic trophies are awarded to winners of individual races.
