King of Kings Lutheran Church Celebrates Bible Weekend

King of Kings Lutheran Church celebrated Bible Weekend on October 12th and 13th. As part of the Faith Milestone ministry, Bible Celebration Weekend is a highly anticipated event by both our kindergarten and third grade children. They are each handed an age-appropriate Bible by their parents as part of the blessing during worship.

This tradition recalls the promises that parents made during their child’s baptism, in which they promised to place God’s word in their child’s hand. Forty-five kindergarten children proceeded to learn more about their Spark Story Bible, which corresponds directly to their Sunday School lessons. Seventy-eight third graders received their Spark Student Bible and attended a special workshop to learn how to use it.

King of Kings began giving Bibles to third graders twenty years ago and giving kindergarteners a Spark Story Bible in 2009, when they were first published. King of Kings Lutheran Church was the first church to distribute the newly created children’s Bible, which brings God’s Word to life through colorful art and rich retellings of 150 of the most popular Bible stories.
