When is the Right Time to Start Botox Injections?

Dr. Shaffer describes when most people should start considering Botox for combating wrinkles.

It is well known that regular Botox injections can soften the "elevens", crow's feet and forehead wrinkles, but what about preventing these wrinkles from developing in the first place?

If you are starting to notice faint lines that are persisting even when you aren't furrowing your brow or smiling, this is the perfect time to start getting Botox injections.  You can actually prevent those faint wrinkles from becoming deeper, more noticeable lines.  When I am injecting Botox, the goal is always to create a relaxed, natural appearance where you can still be expressive - so you still look like you!

Botox injections are safe, quick, and do not require any down time.  A tiny needle is used, so it is practically painless and the injection sites look like small bug bites for about 10 minutes and then disappear.  It takes about a week to get the full effect so if you are planning to have Botox for a big event make sure you have it around two weeks before the event.

Botox is the most popular, non-surgical cosmetic procedure in the country among both men and women. A single treatment session usually only takes me about 10-15 minutes, but the amount of time really depends on each individual patient.

Many people don’t know that the time for Botox may be BEFORE the serious wrinkles start to appear.  It’s also a great way to make gradual improvements. No one needs to know!
