What Should Happen in Syria?

I am at a true quandary with this Syria situation.  I am not in favor of attacking anyone at this point after years and years of war in the middle and near east regions.
But at the same time, I am not of the mind to look the other way while these awful weapons are used on the Syrian people.
In cases past, we have acted forcefully to the use of these weapons, both during Hitler's and Hussein's use of these weapons.  I feel a response is appropriate, but my fear is this:  We attack, and the Assad regime, says we hit a hospital or other soft target with women and children.  We know with almost certainty that if we do attack, this will be the case, whether or not we actually hit these targets.
As my readers know, I am a conservative and my views are generally right on most matters of government.  The issue of politics, like it or not, has to be considered in this scenario.
Bashir al Assad used chemical weapons for one simple reason, he doesn't fear reprisals from America.  The UN is a toothless lion in a den of Hyenas, they have their own agenda that I will not speculate on at this point.  Now you have Putin coming to the aid of Syria and saying that if we don't take a military option off the table or he will not assist in negotiating the chemical weapons out of the Assad regime.
I don't know or pretend to know what the answer is, but the president needs to act with a decisive call to action to ensure that Sarin gas is not used on the people of Syria again.  He needs to use his address tonight to set conditions and time frames on the Assad regime and outline the consequences if those deadlines and conditions are not met.
If the President Obama acts with his usual lack of conviction and vigor, rest assured that the Syrian regime will take that as a sign they they will be able to use their Chemical weapon stockpiles at will.
This is why we elect a president in this Republic, he must make that hard decision to stop a tin pot dictator.  I hope that Mr. Obama does the right thing, but history has shown us that the elusive reset button generally remains out of reach for his administration.
