Long Overdue Trip to the Library

It's been about 10 years since I've checked out a book from any type of library, and I'm not sure what I was expecting of R. H. Stafford Library—but I was impressed.

Over the long weekend, we finally became members of the R. H. Stafford Library.

I say "finally" because we have, after all, lived in Woodbury for two and a half years. The first time I took Lex there, she was about 20 months old, and let's just say she wasn't in to it. She has since become an avid little bookworm and would happily triple the time we spend reading books before bedtime (and not just because she's also an expert bedtime procrastinator).

So, we went to the library Saturday.

It's been about 10 years since I've checked out a book from any type of library, and I'm not sure what I was expecting—but I was impressed. The children's books were all at a 3-year-old's level, and Lex could easily dig through them without destroying their order. (Unfortunately, Theo also could, but that's another story.) The woman who created my library card was extremely helpful and friendly. The self-checkout system is as high-tech as I could have expected, and they also have some eBook checkout options (which I haven't pursued, but plan to eventually).

The library also has some great daytime options for kids—though unfortunately, we work full time, so we probably won't have a chance to take advantage of them.

Perhaps my favorite option: I will receive an e-mail two days before our books are due. This is heaven.

Now, if we can just stick to our system of keeping the books out of the baby's reach ...
