Family Holiday Traditions

What holiday traditions take you back to your childhood? Which ones have you incorporated into your family? Here's a great holiday event to share with your family.

Each year, as the holiday season comes upon us, memories of the traditions celebrated with my family flood my senses. On Black Friday, my parents loaded us into the car and drove out to the tree farm.  We'd meander through the rows of green trees, taking in the smell of spruce until just the right tree jumped out at us.  Dad would cut it down and we'd enjoy a hot cup of cocoa before heading home to decorate our tree.

On November 19, Woodbury Lakes is hosting its annual Holiday Open House event.  It is a perfect opportunity to create a new holiday tradition with your family.  The event runs from 4-9PM.  In addition to special offers in participating stores, the event includes Victorian carolers, costumed characters, reindeer sleigh rides, craft projects for the kiddos, face painting, a cookie decoration station, children's concerts throughout the evening and free popcorn or mini donuts.  At 7PM, Santa arrives on Main Street via a Woodbury fire truck and lights the live 30' tree, setting off a dazzling fireworks display set to holiday music.  Don't forget to bring your camera - Santa listens to whispered wishes until 9PM.  The best part of it all is that the event is FREE!
