Giving Back: Woodbury Lions' Pancake Breakfast

The Woodbury Lions Club’s fundraiser is set for April 15 at East Ridge High School.

This year will mark the 41st pancake breakfast fundraiser for the Woodbury Lions.

New for 2012: mini doughnuts.

“We tried them out,” said Don Adou, chair of this year’s event. “Hopefully it’s going to be a hit.”

The pancake breakfast is set for 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 15, at . Tickets cost $7 for adults and $4 for children (free for kids under 4). Tickets are available from members, at the door or at the .

The event is the Lions’ second-biggest fundraiser of the year, next to the annual citywide garage sale, Adou said.

“One hundred percent (of the funds raised) goes back to the community,” he said, noting support for the , annual Lions scholarships, the and the .

Last year’s event garnered toward $8,500 in scholarships for Woodbury students, $1,000 to local food shelves, $5,500 to YMCA youth programs, plus assistance for residents with sight and hearing needs, and other community support programs, according to a release from the Lions.

This is the third year at East Ridge for the event, and its open space makes for a more congenial atmosphere, Adou said. “This is definitely our new home,” he said.

There are about 60 members of the local Lions Club, and nearly all who are in town attend, Adou said. With that morning, he says the spillover crowd could make for a good turnout, as well.

“We hope this is year is going to be our biggest,” Adou said.

The Lions Garage Sale is set for May 10-12. Check out coverage from last year's event:
