Woodbury Woman's Mini Donut Ice Cream Hits Shelves
Beth-Ann Bloom won a Kemps contest during the State Fair last summer.
Last summer, Woodbury resident Beth-Ann Bloom won a Kemps contest that asked people to come up with a new flavor of ice cream.
Her idea was mini donuts, and Mini-sota Donut ice cream is now on shelves at area supermarkets.
“I spent a year telling people they had to make cows eat mini donuts,” Bloom said.

The ice cream has been available for about a week, she said, and people can find it at Cub Foods and Kowalski’s.
From noon to 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, people will be able to try free samples at Cub. The “Moo Mobile” is expected to be on hand, as well as Bloom herself.

She made television appearances at the State Fair last year, and people still come up to her and ask her about the ice cream.
“This is my half second of fame,” Bloom said. “You don’t get 15 minutes for ice cream.”
So, how is it?
“It’s actually really good,” Bloom said.
She said it’s “cinnamony and creamy” and the mini donuts keep their consistency and aren’t soggy.
Her name is on the carton and friends have shared photos of it on Facebook, and Bloom said she has enjoyed her mild celebrity.
“It really is kind of fun,” she said.
