Zach Sobiech's 'Clouds' Nominated for Upper Midwest Emmy

Zach Sobiech's "Clouds" was nominated for an Upper Midwest Emmy. The Gala will be in September.

The viral video Clouds has been nominated for an Upper Midwest Emmy Award in the Musical Composition/Arrangement category.

The Upper Midwest Emmy Awards Gala will take place at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 28 at the State Theater in Minneapolis.

Zach Sobiech died of bone cancer in May. He was a Stillwater Area High School student and musician. Sobiech wrote Clouds as a way to say goodbye to his friends and family after he was diagnosed.

His song went viral on YouTube and has collected nearly 8 million views to date.
