Thoughts on the Aurora, CO, Shootings

Thoughts on Aurora

I am sure that most people have been glued to the news since this tragedy has happened.

It was senseless and horrific.

From a law enforcement perspective, I imagine that it was very difficult for the first responders to take command of a chaotic scene. But they did. I have listened to the audio from the police and given the situation they had they did very well.

I am frustrated to hear people complain that the first responders didn't do enough. Really? These men and women began arriving on scene within 90 seconds. These same men and women put victims in their squad cars and drove them to the area hospitals because there wasn't enough ambulances.

This tragedy affects everyone involved, the patrons of the theatre, the employees, the first responders, their families, the city, and the country.

It frightens me that this is the world my children are growing up in. It makes me think twice about sending my kids somewhere on their own. What happened to the days of being gone from home for hours with no cell phones? I wish my children could have that same experience.

I for one will be holding my kids a little closer now. Life can change in an instant don't wait til its too late to let someone know you care about them.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all involved in the Aurora, CO, tragedy.
