This is Ladies Night

Ladies Night at the local golf club is probably not the picture you painted in your head. Well, the drinks are still there.

My husband and I didn't make the move to Woodbury during the best season of the year. Once winter settled in, we didn't see our neighbors, which left me with high hopes for spring.

So I was definately looking forward to utilizing our new golf membership at Stoneridge Golf Club in Stillwater (its the course alongside 94 that used to be the horse farm & quarry).

Last Tuesday was our first Ladies Night and I'll admit I was a little apprehensive.   Even though I'm in public relations - meeting and mingling is still a scary thing, especially when its a bunch of women! Not to mention I'm not the best golfer. I'll still shank, top, slice, hook and stub a ball even though I've been doing this on and off for 10 years.

Luckily the first meeting was simply on the range practicing and getting tips on our swing. (Which my husband made me swear I wouldn't respond to any queries of "who told you to do that?" with "my husband did!")

Of course the evening turned out fantastic. They had music jamming on the range and I truly settled in after the bar servers delivered bellinis while we were swinging.

Then I stopped practicing and just chatted with my fellow ladies. Its funny how a drink will do that.  The best part is I must've seemed like a normal enough golfer that my husband and I were invited to golf with another couple this weekend.

So my apprehension was unfounded. To top it off - this wasn't anything like the picture I painted in my head. There is a wide range of skills and ages, which suited me just fine.

I'm looking forward to tomorrow's "Ladies Night" at Stoneridge and hey, guests can join us too! Just contact Steve or Keith at http://stoneridgegc.com
