Community Corner

Am I Next?

Those of us who have friends and loved ones with dementia ask the question often.  Every misplaced item or forgotten appointment brings the nagging question to the forefront of our minds.  As the incidence of dementia grows, it is prudent to know the signs, but equally important to know the steps you can take to increase the odds of maintaining your brain health.  It is not surprising that perhaps the best preventive actions we can take to keep our brains healthy involve those two health habit factors that we hear about so often: diet and exercise.  Recent research shows that there is a connection between heart health and brain health.  The Heart/Head connection tells us that if the heart isn’t pumping like it should, our brain suffers as well.  Learn more about risk factors and steps you can take to maintain your brain at http://www.alz.org/alzheimers_disease_causes_risk_factors.asp

You are welcome to join us for Prelude’s Family Support and Education nights held on the last Thursday of every month. We meet at 6:00 p.m. in the Community Room at Prelude’s Cottages in Woodbury: 10020 Raleigh Road, Woodbury, MN  55129.
