Police Parking on the Trails

Over the last few days members of the Woodbury Police have decided that they should park a cruiser up on one of the cities many walking/bike trails along Lake Rd adjacent to the Kingsfield edition. The cruiser is there for the sole purpose of ticketing speeders along this section of Lake Rd. The cruiser is completely blocking the public trail, which is very heavily utilized. This is a nuisance in the name of writing a few tickets. As a resident of the neighborhood I can tell you that the police have absolutely no trouble catching speeders on this stretch of road without creating a nuisance to the public that wish to use the trail. Previously I have witnessed the Police on foot with a radar gun hiding behind a large builders sign on that same stretch. The officer would then radio to a cruiser up the road. This sign was taken down so they cannot hide behind it any more.

I spoke with a friend who is a prosecuting attorney for one of the metro counties and inquired about this practice. Her response was that she wasn't even sure if doing so was even legal, but and I quote "WOW, what a @ick move!".  That coming from a prosecuting attorney should tell you something.

What I would love to know is why do they think this is acceptable?
