Apparently Drunk Man Walks Into Life Time Fitness, Urinates: Woodbury Police Blotter

Selected calls to the Woodbury Public Safety Department from Oct. 29 to Nov. 4.

The following information was obtained from recent Woodbury Police reports.

Oct. 29

A neighbor of a house in the 1000 block of Briar Glen Lane said the lights were on, even though the home has been vacant for four years. Officers checked the house and determined everything was secure and no one was inside. It is possible a representative of the realty company or bank had visited the home. 

Oct. 30

A woman was arrested for third-degree DWI and open container after an employee of SuperAmerica at 6401 Lake Road Terrace noticed that a car had been running near Pump 2 for a few hours. An officer responded and noticed the woman appeared to be "passed out." She failed field sobriety tests and her blood alcohol content was 0.9. She went to jail and her vehicle was towed.

Two males wearing orange hoodies were going door-to-door near Wyndham Way. Officers checked the area.

A manager of Barnes & Noble, 7020 Valley Creek Plaza, said two women came into the store to return books. One of the women was upset and started to cause a scene. They left, setting off the theft alarm. One of the women kept walking and the other returned to the store, again caused a scene and elbowed the manager in the stomach. Officers were not able to track the women down from the information on the receipts or vehicle information provided by employees. One of the women later called police to say she was harassed by employees. An officer told her to fill out a statement and that she would receive a citation for assault.

Oct. 31

A property manager of Grand Reserve Apartments, 10285 Grand Forest Lane, said two to three men were dropping flyers at residences. When the property manager asked them to leave, they "were rude." Officers talked to four males and one female, who said they were dropping off "flyers of the yellow phone book." The property manager did not want to pursue criminal charges, but the officers told them to leave the property and not come back. "They were told to go to the city if they would like a permit to go door to door to drop off flyers."

Nov. 1

An apparently drunk male walked into Life Time Fitness, 675 Commons Drive, urinated and then walked outside. He had bruises on his face and was wearing a black shirt and jeans. Officers found him in the parking lot with his mother. Staff did not pursue charges and the male and his mother went home.

A person reported people in a vehicle in the 1600 block of Woodlane Drive were smoking marijuana and drinking. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle or determine who drives or owns it.

A postal carrier who had concerns about break-ins in the area reported a woman was in a vehicle he did not recognize in the 9700 block of Wellington Ridge. A man left the house and headed to the vehicle and then drove away. Officers talked to the homeowner, who said the person was his friend.

A man went into Little Caesars Pizza, 8446 Tamarack Village, Suite 206, to complain that his pizza was not delivered on Oct. 31 in a timely manner. Store staff did not refund the cost of the pizza. When officers arrived, staff asked them to issue a trespass notice. The man left the business.

Nov. 2

A male went to Woodbury Shell, 1511 Weir Drive, where he confronted a man who had been involved in an earlier domestic call with the male's mother. Officers told the male to stay in his vehicle, but he did not make eye contact with them and marched at the man with clenched fists. He ignored officers a few times and "actively resisted officers' physical direction to leave the area and was placed in handcuffs." He was cited for obstructing the legal process without force and left with his mother.

Someone reported a suspicious vehicle was sitting in the 3400 block of Sunbury Drive for about four hours. Officers talked to the driver, who was waiting for his girlfriend to get home.

A driver reported a vehicle was tailgating her vehicle and swerving back and forth before parking at Trader Joe's. Officers could not find the vehicle or driver based on the information provided.

A man called 911 to say "he was angry at airplanes flying low over the fields that he is trying to hunt in." An officer told him to contact the FAA or a local airport to find out if there is an ordinance or law to prevent airplanes from flying low. The officer also told him he was hunting in an area—Settlers Ridge Parkway—that was below a flight path for planes landing on the north side of 94.

Nov. 3

A man reported he found an abandoned baby stroller near a playground in Pioneer Park. He later called back to say he found the owner of the stroller and everything was OK.

Officers responded to Kohl's, 7100 Valley Creek Plaza, after a report of a shoplifting in progress. Four Polaroid tablets and clothing were taken, according to store staff, and there is a video of the incident. Two males were arrested and two females were released. 

Nov. 4

An employee of Old Navy, 8306 Tamarack Village, reported shoplifting in progress. The suspected shoplifter left the store with about $80 of merchandise. A loss prevention employee followed and the suspected shoplifter hit the employee with her vehicle. The employee was not hurt and did not want to pursue assault charges, but wanted to pursue theft charges. The employee will provide a report and video footage to police and officers will set up a line-up.
