The next day, police learned that some of the items were pawned at Maxit Pawn on University Avenue in St. Paul. They also found the son of the vehicle’s owner, who admitted driving Barnes and Stephen Johnson to the Timberlea Drive home.

Barnes lives on same block where the burglary occurred, and he had been an invited guest at the home and knew the family owned several electronic devices.

While the driver said both Barnes and Johnson entered the home, Barnes told police he never left the car and only Johnson went inside. He also said the victim’s children and his younger sibling are friends.
