Brief: Two Woodbury Businesses Fail Latest Tobacco Compliance Check

The Public Safety Department conducted 10 compliance checks recently.

Two Woodbury businesses failed recent tobacco-compliance checks conducted by the Public Safety Department.

Short Stop Wine and Spirits and the Kwik Trip on Hudson Road failed recent checks, according to police reports.

The department conducted 10 checks on Sept. 13. (In April the department performed tobacco-compliance checks on 13 establishments and they all passed.)

When a business fails a compliance check, the employee who sold the alcohol or tobacco is charged with a gross misdemeanor or misdemeanor, respectively. Police have the option of issuing a warning or $500 citation to the offending business.

The Public Safety Department tries to check every alcohol- or tobacco-selling business in Woodbury once a year.
