Brief: Washington County Attorney Takes On Crime Prevention Initiative

Prosecutors will be available to talk with community groups about identity theft, burglary prevention, protecting children on the Internet, truancy and telemarketing fraud for seniors.

Washington County Attorney Pete Orput has announced a broad-based crime prevention initiative to educate the public on a variety of issues to avoid becoming a victim.

Prosecutors with the County Attorney’s Office will be available to talk with community groups about crime prevention strategies related to identity theft, burglary prevention, protecting children on the Internet, truancy and telemarketing fraud for seniors.

“We believe that community education and awareness is an important part of the prosecution function, and not just the bringing of criminal cases in court,” Orput said. “If we can help to educate the public to avoid becoming a crime victim, we are all better off as a society.”
