Brief: Woodbury Handles Snow ‘Remarkably Well’

Part of Valley Creek Road was shut down Monday morning, but the city otherwise fared well during the snow.

For all of the problems that arose during last Friday’s snowfall, things in Woodbury today (Jan. 23) went “remarkably well.”

That’s according to traffic officer Scott Melander, who said traffic flowed more smoothly in the city today compared to the state as a whole.

A little after 8 a.m. this morning, Valley Creek Road was closed at a hilly section west of Woodbury Drive, Melander said, but police put in a call to Washington County Public Works, which cleaned up the hill and reopened it for traffic a short time later.

Cars were “stacking up” on the hill, Melandar said.

Otherwise, however, Woodbury only saw a “handful” of minor accidents. There were no major injuries reported. Police did cite a few motorists for flowing too closely or other offenses, Melander told Patch.

“Things went remarkably well,” he said. “Especially versus the state. … It wasn’t too bad at all this morning.”

A Woodbury Fire Department official said last week’s snowstorm sent crews out on about 15 calls.
